The Art-Full Tree Ornaments to make

Hello! I want to tell you about an exciting new publication from Colonial Williamsburg. It's called The Art-Full Tree Ornaments to Make Inspired by the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.

Last month I organized some craft sessions at work so that employees in our building could make some of the ornaments. We spent our lunch hours every week making them. Some of the supplies were purchased, but we also used many things we already had and some recycled items as well.

It turned out quite well and many visitors to our building are taking photos of the tree in the lobby.

We hope to continue again next year making different items than this year. So far we made the paper dove, layered felt flower, cross-stitch mini tree stocking, copper sun, aluminum angel, paper-star garland (made with recycled catalogs), wooden train, aluminum butterfly, recycled-paper memory balls, and I think the best item- the recycled-wallpaper star!

We used wallpaper sample pages from old discontinued wallpaper books into three sizes of the star flower. The aluminum center is from the covers for aluminum pans left over from catered meals. The buttons came from jars of old collected buttons I had on hand.

The book is sold here in the Colonial Williamsburg historic area shops and on their website at: http://www.williamsburgmarketplace.com/
